Lawrence Heibel (High-ball)
I earned a degree in journalism from Grand Valley State University in 1991. I have been photographing people since 1993 when I took up photography as a sideline to a freelance newspaper reporter position. I photographed the news and feature events I reported on for one of the largest newspapers in Michigan. Through my years of interviewing and photographing people for newspaper stories, I have learned to put people at ease and bring out their personality, emotion and confidence. Telling peoples' stories in words and in pictures is a real passion for me. I love what I do and I believe it shows in my work. I have actively pursued photography training from various schools and seminars. I am currently president of the River City Camera Club, (www.rivercitycameraclub.org) and a member of the West Michigan Wedding Association (www.westmichiganweddingassociation.org) and a member of the Professional Photographers of West Michigan (www.ppwm.org). As my portrait work is seen by more and more people, the demand for my portrait work has increased steadily where in late 2006 I switched careers from full-time writer/part-time photographer to full-time photographer. My photographic style is one of a photojournalistic portrait artist. When I make a portrait my goal is to capture the person's personality, style and charisma. It is my goal that when you look at your pictures, you will remember the stories of who you were when the picture was taken. |
